Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation awards $10,000 Youth Grants for Emergency Shelter

December 2022 – Faith Community Coalition for the Homeless is pleased to announce it has received two $5000 Youth Grants from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation to support shelter and housing of children. The Fleming Family Fund and the W. Randy Smith Family Funds both provided $5000 grants. The Youth Grant will serve approximately 100 children with emergency shelter and 100 children with eviction prevention and housing assistance in 2023-24.1. Our goal is to fill the gap in homeless services and prevention services in the Eastern Panhandle. We help when no other resources are available. In addition to these funds from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation, we receive funding from the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle, Ecolab Foundation, and local churches and individuals. We are an all-volunteer organization trying to use every donor dollar for direct services. “We want to thank the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation for this Fall 2022 Youth Grants totaling f$10,000 ,” said FCCH Chair Cynthia Jamison. ” We have already served nearly 100 children this year with both emergency shelter or with homeless prevention funds. Unfortunately, the loss of employment during the pandemic has hit local families very hard. This funding will help us meet their needs.” The Community Foundation was established in 1995 and awards nearly $1 million in grants and scholarships annually. With 250 endowed funds and assets of just over $30 million, EWVCF is one of the largest grantmaking organizations serving the Eastern Panhandle. The Foundation is located at the historic Caperton Train Station at 229 East Martin Street, Suite 4, Martinsburg, WV 25401. For more information, visit the website http://www.EWVCF.org or contact EWVCF Executive Director Michael Whalton at mwhalton@ewvcf.org or call 304-264-0353. ***

The Unity Campaign Countdown is On!

Faith Community Coalition for the Homeless (FCCH) is on the way to reaching our Unity Campaign goal, but there’s still so much MORE to do!  Now is the time to support our mission of providing emergency shelter to individuals and families in the Eastern Panhandle when there is no other feasible option.

Will you help us reach our goal of $5,000 by donating $25, $35, $50, or more? All of your money will go directly to FCCH. Plus, a portion of your gift will be matched by a sponsor. You can donate online at https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/UNITY/team/FCCH. Thank you!
