FCCH addresses service gaps in Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson counties by providing temporary hotel stays when no other options exist, and offers limited one-time rental assistance through partner agencies for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Our Vision
The Vision of the Faith Community Coalition for the Homeless is to address service gaps for individuals experiencing homelessness and those at risk in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia through donated funds and volunteer engagement, while ensuring efforts do not duplicate existing services.
Our Mission
The Faith Community Coalition for the Homeless serves homeless persons and persons at risk of homelessness in the Eastern Panhandle by:
Providing warm, safe, dry emergency shelter in local motels when no other options are feasible; or assistance with rent, security deposits, utility bills and housing application fees to prevent eviction or homelessness;
Connecting homeless and at-risk persons to housing and community services; and seeking collaborative solutions and improvements to homeless services and housing opportunities

- We help our homeless neighbors connect with:
- Local men and women’s shelters and emergency, temporary, or permanent housing options.
- Nourishing food, medical care
- Warm clothes, sleeping bags, blankets
- Transportation
- Respite facilities and support services

History
In September, 2013, over 30 people gathered in Martinsburg to discuss gaps in services for homeless families and individuals. The Faith Community Coalition for the Homeless was formed by volunteers, churches, and professionals, reflecting their commitment to collaborative action and a perspective rooted outside traditional systems. We continue our work today through 100% volunteer efforts and grant and donor assistance!
Our Community Impact
Emergency Shelter – In 2024, FCCH provided 236 nights of emergency shelter in local motels. We served 171 individuals including 60 children. Of the 111 adults sheltered, we served 14 seniors, 4 Veterans and 36 persons with disabilities.
Eviction Prevention and Rental Assistance – Working though partner agencies, FCCH served 45 households with prevention services including rent assistance, security deposits, utility assistance. These households had 61 persons, including 12 children. These clients included 5 seniors, 1 Veteran and 10persons with disabilities.
